10 x 30 seconds fast
Recovery: 60 seconds jogging
Splits: N/A

I am well beyond my competitive running years…but I still run every day. Typically, my runs are somewhere between 6 and 8 kilometers; or 25-35 minutes of easy running. But, every once in a while, the competitive edge comes back and I feel the need to ‘train’ for something.
In most cases, the itch goes away within a week or two, but the other day I was just getting bored with easy runs in my neighborhood. A typical go-to workout for me when I want to get back into training is 30 second fast surges. They are short enough that I can handle them at just about any fitness level and it’s fast enough that I feel good running them.
For now, I want to run a 5km road race in February…but we’ll see how long that lasts…
