DO NOT NEGLECT STRIDES.
I’ve said this before and this is one of the biggest tips that I can give for an entire year of training…but really in the summer and winter months…MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT NEGLECT STRIDES.
With track coming up in the spring semester you cannot afford to neglect strides during your winter training.
For me, I believe that strides are the introduction to faster-paced work that you would typically do during the track season.
Strides also help to improve your form and running mechanics, which can also help prevent injuries.
When you are performing strides you want to practice, fast, relaxed, and efficient running. Make sure to start easier and build into the strides.
How often should you run strides? As little as 1-2 times per week and as much as after any easy running you perform!
