As we get into mid-to-late November and are heading straight into the winter I am reminded of a story that Kara Goucher tells after winning the 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championships…
I am paraphrasing, but it was something to the affect that she lost a State Championship in High School and afterwards her coach told her that she wore too many layers and that it just showed that she was not tough enough.
So, her senior year in Ames, Iowa in -17 degree temps she wore nothing more than the uniform and won the National Championship proving that she was TOUGH.
