I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Variety is the spice of life…” Well, I think that holds true for our running as well. So, how does that apply to our Summer 101?
It’s simple…mix things up…keep some variety in there…and I by variety, I mean vary your terrain!!! Run on grass, run on the roads, run on dirt, run over hills, run on the track…mix it up and run on all surfaces.
I hear a lot of people talk about running on softer surfaces…and I think there is a lot of benefit to that, but I also think that you need to be able to run on some harder surfaces (concrete, pavement, asphalt) and on some faster surfaces (the track) as well.
Look, we aren’t trying to do a lot of quality in the summer…so I believe it’s important to get in some ‘quality’ by running over hills, running over some lush grass courses, and by running ‘faster’ on the roads and the track occasionally.
Spice things up…vary your terrain this summer!
