Danielle Rimann, March 2018
Danielle Rimann, or Dani as I call her (and sometimes Daniella and sometimes Dan-the-man) is one of the toughest athletes I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching. She is one of my super sophomores that have come in and really helped to energize our women’s cross country program!
Dani was a good runner in high school, but has really come in and turned herself into a great runner at the college level. She was our #2 girl nearly all season in cross country and was an All-Region honoree which helped get us to the NCAA Championships for the 3rd time in our program’s history.
This track season is her last as she graduates next December, but she’s been our most consistent athlete this winter and spring, and has really established herself as a leader on our team. We’re going to miss Dani next track season…but I am definitely excited at the opportunities that she has to finish out this spring season and into the next cross country season.
This was a tremendous session for Dani and really got me excited about what she could do this track season. Unfortunately the first few races of the Outdoor Season did not meet the expectations that grew from this workout.
However, as we know from Dani, she’s tough and she’s relentless in her pursuit of being great, and that was rewarded this past weekend with a PR in the 5000 meters (17:35).
Tomorrow Dani is racing the 5000 meters at the Oregon State High Performance Meet in Corvallis, Oregon. Stay tuned for more PRs and more toughness from this girl!
