Running with the king.

I’m not sure about you, but there’s just something about running with friends that makes it so much more enjoyable. Sure, I definitely love the solitude that sometimes comes with being a long-distance runner, but as Christopher McCandless said right before passing, “Happiness is only real when shared…”

Now, yes, that’s a bit dramatic, but you get my point. It’s fun to run with friends.

This morning I had the opportunity to run with Zach Morgan, who was known as the King of Campus in his run at Dallas Baptist University. Zach ran for me while he was at Dallas Baptist University from 2008 until 2012 when he graduated.

Shortly after graduation he got a great job with Adidas and had an opportunity to travel the country spreading the three-stripes brand and philosophy. After 3-4 years on that job he wanted more out of life and became a teacher/coach. Now, he’s a high school teacher and XC/TF coach in Houston.

One of my favorite things about the holidays is Zach getting to come home to Dallas and the opportunity to get in a run with one of my best friends. It’s fun to catch up on life, relive old stories, and find out just how much fitness we’ve lost over the years!

If you haven’t, I want to encourage you to start running with friends. It definitely makes it easier to get out the door on these cold mornings and helps the miles fly by. 10850058_821764704552642_9127953452794340114_n
