It’s obvious that you’ve got to train hard/smart in the summer if you want to have a successful fall and we’ve discussed ways to focus on that…build the base, long runs, strides, high-end aerobic running, etc.
But there’s more to it than that.
Cross Country is a TEAM sport. And so you have to be a TEAM player.
If you are part of a program that is able to train TOGETHER in the summer…YOU BETTER BE THERE (unless for family vacation or emergency). Coach Miller at Grapevine High School once said, “We practice on days that end in ‘y’!” MEANING — every day, you better be there!!!
Your TEAM is counting on you. SHOW UP. EVERY DAY.
