Workout of the Day — Hannah Moore

4 x 70 meter build ups + 4 x 300 meters + 200 meters + 4 x 70 meter build ups

Recovery: Walk back rest between build ups; 100 meter jog between 300/200 meter reps; 4 min rest between sets. 

Splits: 51 seconds average for 300 meter reps // 34 seconds average for 200 meter reps.

I’ve featured Hannah as a workout of the day before…but this session is one that I thought would be very tough for her, but as usual, she handled it with the same grace and ease that we have come to expect from Hannah.

Coming back from injury is so hard for athletes. Coming back from a long-term injury is even harder. In Hannah’s case she missed 13-weeks after our Cross Country season and missed the entire Indoor Track season. Our plan for the Outdoor Track season was aggressive and included throwing her into the deep-end of goal-paced sessions without properly building up to them. It’s high risk – high reward.

Thankfully (and luckily) she handled and absorbed everything we threw at her and ended her sophomore season as the NCCAA Champion in the 4 x 800 meter relay, 1500 meters, and 800 meters.

As they always say, ‘There’s more than one road to Rome.’
